Ballymena Schools Artwork
2008
Louise was commissioned by Ballymena Borough Council to produce a piece of public art on the theme of Sustainability. Working with year 10 students from the nine post-primary schools in the borough this artwork was created with each school allotted one cog and working on one aspect of Sustainability.

1. Better Quality of Life for All. Ballymena Academy
2. Shelter. Dunclug College
3. Health Education. Cullybackey High School
4. Freedom & Political Representation. Slemish College
5. Use of New Energy Sources. St Patricks College
6. Protection of Natural Habitats. Ballee Community High School
7. Recycle: Minimise Waste. Cambridge House Grammar
8. Fragile Relationship between Human & Animal. St Louis Grammar
9. Food for all. Castle Tower School, Dunfane Campus

Each of the nine elements is based on the form of a wheel clog, with one appearing to connect to the other. This is to highlight the connectivity between each element and how they work together in unison.
Each cog is constructed using a variety of materials; the work made in the school workshops forms the centre of the clog to narrate a pictorial representation of the above themes.
